From Berlin to Omaha Beach and Back: A Survivor's Metaphors, featuring Professor Victor Brombert (A virtual event)

On November 14 at 3 p.m., the Friends of Princeton University Library will be honored to welcome Professor Victor Brombert, Henry Putnam University Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures and Comparative Literature, Emeritus, at Princeton University as part of our Small Talk series. A renowned scholar of 19th and 20th century European literature, Professor Brombert is the author of 15 books, including a memoir, “Trains of Thought” (Norton, 2002).

Perhaps less well known is Professor Brombert’s participation in a secret American intelligence unit in World War II called The Ritchie Boys, a group largely responsible for most of the combat intelligence gathered on the Western Front. Professor Brombert was recently interviewed on CBS's 60 Minutes. He will talk with us about this experience and the broader topic of the "metaphors of survival."

We are grateful that Professor Brombert will talk to us about his experiences and remarkable life. Landon Jones, a longtime member of the Friends, an author, and a former editor at People, Life, Time, and Money magazines, will moderate the program.
