Japanese Woodblock Printing
Event box
This workshop will provide an overview of the materials, tools, and practices of historical Japanese woodblock printing. Participants will also learn about modern-day technologies (e.g., 3D printing and laser cutting) used to replicate select historical woodblock prints held by the Marquand Library and featured in the current Milberg Gallery exhibition, “The Art of Japanese Publishing.” After a brief introduction to the exhibition and a demonstration of the technique, multiple blocks will be available for participants to make their own woodblock prints.
