Understanding Open Access at Princeton

The Open Access Movement advocates for peer reviewed scholarship to be made available to the public free of cost. Even with Federal and philanthropic funders pushing the effort forward with new grant requirements, the goal of equitable opportunity for reading and publishing still faces major hurdles: Infrastructure challenges, conflict between libraries and publishers, and perennial questions around quality, fairness, and sustainability.

Join us for a presentation and discussion of what “open access” means in 2024. We’ll talk about Princeton’s oft misunderstood Open Access Policy, about trends across academia and in the current publishing landscape, what all of this might mean for Princeton researchers.

This session is open to all, and will be especially helpful to those engaged in publishing research, now or in the future.
