"Dear Printer, Don't Print:" Guided tour of "Ulises Carrión: Bookworks and Beyond" with guest artists Camilo Otero and Eva Parra of Calipso Press

A one-hour guided tour of the latest exhibition in the Milberg Gallery in Firestone Library at Princeton University. Tours meet in the lobby of Firestone Library.

Co-founders of Calipso Press Camilo Otero and Eva Parra will draw upon their experience as publishers, artists, and curators to contextualize Ulises Carrión's life, work, and impact on the field of artists' books. This conversational tour will explore how artists theorize and experiment with the materials and technologies of bookmaking, as well as how artists' publishing fosters community-building and collaboration in a transnational context.

The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the Milberg Gallery, Firestone Library. Open to the public.

Ulises Carrión: Bookworks and Beyond” explores Carrión’s pioneering reinvention of the book as a material and social platform through Princeton University Library’s extensive holdings of his work. The exhibition is curated by Sal Hamerman, Metadata Librarian, Princeton University Library and Javier Rivero Ramos, a recent PhD graduate from the Department of Art & Archaeology, who is currently Assistant Curator at Art Bridges Foundation in Arkansas.

The exhibition will run from February 21 - June 13, 2024.
