Friends of Princeton University Library Small Talk: "Princeton in the American Revolution through the Paintings of John Trumbull" with Ron Brown

Join the Friends of Princeton University Library for a timely and beautifully illustrated tribute to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States as seen through the paintings of John Trumbull, the great visual artist of the American Revolution. Ron Brown, Friend, will share the evolution of Colonel Trumbull’s work from his early sketches of British positions occupying Boston to the monumental images he created for the Capitol Rotunda, including works illustrating the Declaration of Independence and the Battle of Princeton that are held by Princeton University Library (PUL).
This Small Talk takes place one week before the opening of PUL’s “Nursery of Rebellion”: Princeton and the American Revolution exhibition in the Milberg Gallery of Firestone Library. The exhibition commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States.

About the Presenter
Ron Brown has written and lectured extensively on John Trumbull and has donated several Trumbull works to Princeton. Ron is a member of the Princeton Class of 1972 and earned an MA from the University of Chicago. He is a Commander in the US Naval Reserve (retired) and was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals for writing and research while serving with the US Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington DC.
