Book Collecting and Community in a Digital Age: New Approaches
Rare book dealer Heather O’Donnell, founder of Honey & Wax Booksellers in Brooklyn, spent three years at Princeton as a member of the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts (2001-2004). She serves on the Board of Governors of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America, the faculty of the Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota), and the Yale Library Associates Trustees. Her work at Honey & Wax, including the annual Honey & Wax Book Collecting Prize for young women collectors, is featured in the 2019 documentary The Booksellers. This talk deals with new approaches to antiquarian book collecting and community made possible by the internet, looking beyond the online marketplaces themselves to the influence of social media and digital humanities initiatives like Princeton’s own Shakespeare & Company Project. Alexis Antracoli, Assistant University Librarian for Special Collections, will introduce the speaker.
