Data File Inventory: Bringing Order to Chaos in Your Data Folders

Even the most organized researchers often struggle to keep track of everything in their data folders. The challenge is compounded with each new project, data source, storage location, and team member. This workshop will begin by guiding you through strategies for taking inventory of your data files, with practical advice on creating and maintaining centralized inventory records you can use to navigate through multiple locations, trace dependencies, assign responsibilities, track progress, and monitor backup routines. We will then have time in the second half of the workshop for lab-style interactive problem-solving, based on the specific needs of the participants. If you come prepared with your laptop and questions, our experts can offer you direct assistance during the session.
